7 Signs Your Business Website Needs a Redesign

Most owners wait too long to redesign. Here are the warning signs that your current site is hurting your business — not helping it.

A website is not a one-time purchase. It is a working asset, and like any asset, it eventually wears out. The hard part is knowing when. Here are the signs we see most often when a business calls us about a redesign.

    1. Your phone has gone quieter

If calls and form fills are trending down while ad spend is flat or up, the problem is almost always on the page that traffic is landing on — not the traffic itself.

    2. It does not load fast on mobile

Run your URL through PageSpeed Insights on mobile. If your score is under 70, you are losing impatient visitors — and Google is quietly demoting you.

    3. The design feels dated

Customers compare you to the best site they used today, not the best site in your industry. A site that looks 5+ years old reads as low effort and low trust.

    4. No clear next step

If a first-time visitor cannot find your primary CTA in three seconds — quote, call, book — your site is not converting. It is informing.

    5. You can't edit anything without breaking it

If updating a price or adding a service means calling a developer (or risking the site going down), your stack is fighting you.

    6. You're paying monthly fees you don't understand

Hosting, domain, and email are normal. Recurring fees just to "use" your own site usually mean you are renting something you should own.

    7. You don't show up locally

If you do not appear in Google for "[your service] near me" or "[your service] in [your city]", your site is missing local SEO foundations: schema, structured content, Google Business Profile setup.

Two or more of these signs usually means a redesign will pay for itself in months, not years.
